Choices, Hospitality and Parties

This week was a tough one for me. A couple of things happened which made it full, and good.

Firstly, I underwent a pretty tough selection-assessment for master studies in industrial psychology. In the end, I decided against doing it...for now. I'll blog about this some-time.

Secondly, it was a full week in the sense that we had a fuller house. Three young men from Pretoria visited us: Jean, Wayne and Arno. They are helping Anne-Marie on one of the productions she's responsible for. Jean and Wayne are brothers. Jean and Wayne - what were the parents thinking? Luckily there was no next kid, otherwise he would have probably gotten the name Billy. Jokes aside, these are truly good, solid guys that are part of a revival that God seems to be stirring up amongst the youth across South-Africa. They are constantly talking about Jesus! They go on regular outreaches and every evening before we go to bed, they would whip out their Bibles to catch up on the reading programme they are busy with. It is refreshing and contagious to open up your home to people and to then discover God's blessing in it. Although no-one would argue that these three musketeers are indeed angels, their simplicity, energy, passion to follow Jesus was encouraging.


Finally, to round off the fullness, we had a weekend of parties (and full bellies!). We attended a wedding of a cousin of mine, Karlé, who got married to Marco. Karlé, was instrumental in me meeting my wife (she reluctantly gave my number to Anne-Marie in order for her to beg for a lift in Johburg - and that "liftclub" is where a lot of things began...). Their wedding was great! Full of symbolism and a strong testimony to the fact that Jesus is the ultimate Groom, and his church, the bride. One fine party! The second party was the 80th birthday of Anne-Marie's steph-grandmother. This birthday was held at the Barnyard theatre in Menlyn, in front of "Rock Me Amadeus", a complete rock concert with some souped up Mozart. What a way to celebrate an approaching century!
